Pilgrims bag

Pilgrims travelled light, only taking with them the clothes on their back, a walking stick, and a bag in which to hold the essentials, such as some coins and perhaps a letter of protection. A scrip was a small medieval bag or purse, which was used to carry food, utensils, or money. Scrips could vary in size and shape, and the flaps were decorated according to the wearer. Numerous medieval illustrations show pilgrims with scrips that have a shoulder strap, hence the name pilgrims bag.

This light and simple scrip will look appropriate on the shoulder of even the most humble traveller on their holy journey. You can add your own pilgrim badges or other decoration if you so choose. Made of 100% cotton. Height: 28cm. Width: 31,5cm
