Vervelles, set of 12

The first aventails, neck and shoulder protections of chainmail, were permanently riveted to the helmets, but in the early 14th C removable aventails became common. The aventail has a leather collar, which has holes punched in. The vervelles are attached to the helmet, and are then pushed through the holes in the leather. Finally the leather collar in secured by threading a string through the holes in the vervelles.

Pack of a dozen brass rivets with staples. Perfect for retrofitting your bascinet or other helmet with a chainmail aventail. Also suitable for other plate-armour projects and repairs. Dimensions: approx. 19 x 8 x 8 mm
