1880 Bowie Knife

79.90€

Towards the late 19th century a Bowie knife was still fashionable, but they were often made with a thinner hilt for more discreet carrying than had been the fashion during previous decades. This effective knife is a copy of an English produced Bowie made for the U. S. market in that period.

As in the original, the left side of our 1880 Bowie knife’s blade is marked with stamp of the original manufacturer "Imperial Sword Co. London." The knife features a simple cross guard with rounded ends that fits perfectly with the modest and sleek look. The slim fitted handle allows a good grip.

Supremely functional and solid, this all-rounder knife is as good as the originals and the high carbon steel blade will last for years in active use. Typically the back edge of the point was a false edge, not sharpened even though made to look like it is. Sharp back edge was not too practical or needed if the main use of the knife was as a tool for someone living on the frontier. However sometimes also the false upper edge would be sharpened for example for backhand slashes and more effective thrusts.

The blade is hand forged of high carbon steel. The handle has polished dark hardwood plates riveted on top of the full tang. Our 1880 Bowie knife comes with a leather sheath with a separate belt loop, so that the knife and sheath can easily be attached to any belt. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts.

Total length 38 cm, blade length 25 cm, grip length 12 cm. Weight 420 g.
Please note that this knife comes pre-sharpened!
