Developed early in the 12th Century, the Great Helm became the mainstay of the medieval fighting man, and lasted for about 300 years. Worn over a mail coif and padding, this helmet has menacing, narrow eye slits for maximum protection. Helmets such as this were widely used during the middle ages, and the great helm is widely recognized as the symbol of the medieval knight. Made from 1.24 mm (18gauge) steel.
Internal dimensions: 20.2 cm x 24.5 cm (8” x 9 5/8”).
Outer circumference 72.5 cm (24 ½”).
Weight approx. 2 kg (4 2/5 lbs).
