Known by many names, war hat or teapot hat, the wide-brimmed open-brimmed helmet was the most popular of all helmets for fighting on foot. Its date of origin is uncertain, but we do know that many tribes and nations wore helmets of this basic style and helmets like this were in use at the beginning of medieval times. It remained in use until the 17th century. In fact, it could be said that it remained popular till the 20th century as helmets of this type were used even in the First World War.

The English iron hat is a helmet shaped like a wide-brimmed hat. It is made of steel and provides protection from things coming down from above, like a hail of arrows or a sword for example. Many helmets of old restricted their wearers' vision or ability to breathe, but not our English iron hat. It is also lighter than you think! This English iron hat has an adjustable liner so it can fit almost any head. Lightweight and adjustable, it is very comfortable to wear. A leather chinstrap with buckle makes sure that this English iron hat stays on your head.

This helmet can be seen in the movie Kingdom of Heaven that is situated in the time of the Crusades.
