Description of the Product
Developed early in the 12th Century, the Great Helm became the mainstay of the medieval fighting man, and lasted for about 300 years. Worn with large amounts of padding or over a smaller helmet, it was almost impossible to penetrate. Few great helms have survived the centuries. We have copied one frequently shown in old illustrations and monuments. Crafted of 1.24 mm (18 gauge) steel with reinforced sights and riveted and welded sections. It also features a ring on the top that was used for securing decorative attachments like a lady’s favor. From circa 1350.
Weight 2.5 kg (5 lbs 8 oz).
Inside measurements 25 cm x 19 cm x 30.5 cm (9 5/6” x 7 ½” x 12”) depth x width x height.
Circumference at the bottom of the helm 77.5 cm (30 ½”).
Absolutely worth visiting. Things to wonder and admire for hours and to buy... Don't tell your spouse unless he/she is also an enthusiast :)
