Hallstat Sword


Archeological excavations in the Hallstatt region of Austria have given a rich and vast glimpse into Celtic culture and life during the Early Iron Age. The 2500 year old original sword was found in this region, the iron blade corroded into near-oblivion, but the bronze handle surviving. This short and light sword was well suited for close combat; its leaf shaped blade was effective both in stabbing and slashing. The Hallstatt sword is an excellent early example of the mastery of swordsmith skills. The handle is bronze. Leather scabbard with bronze mounts.
Weight 910g (2lbs). Overall 62cm (24-1/3”). Blade 47cm (18-1/2”) long, 6.4cm (2-1/2”) wide. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts.
