About Samurai Weapons
Samurai warriors of Japan were renowned for their martial arts skills. They used various weapons, each with their own purpose and symbolic significance. Perhaps the most well-known Japanese weapon was the katana, a curved and single-edged sword. Katana are famous for their sharpness and precision, even among modern enthusiasts. The wakizashi, a shorter sword, served as both a status symbol and a backup sword to the katana. Wakizashi were used primarily indoors and in tight spaces where the katana’s length would be impractical. The yari (spear) was an important weapon for giving more range in a melee combat, while the tanto (dagger) served as a convenient and versatile weapon in close-quarters combat and small spaces. You can find all our Japanese and other Asian weapons in this category.
