Description of the Product
Daisho Kake was a legendary figure in Japanese folklore, often depicted as a master swordsman and a skilled samurai. Though not as well-documented in historical records as other famous samurai, his story has been passed down through generations, emphasizing his exceptional swordsmanship and unwavering loyalty. Daisho Kake is frequently portrayed as a warrior who upheld the values of bushido, the samurai code of honor, loyalty, and discipline.
He is particularly known for his legendary duels and his ability to wield both a katana and a wakizashi with remarkable proficiency, embodying the practice of "daisho," which refers to the traditional pairing of these two swords. Stories of Daisho Kake often highlight his encounters with formidable adversaries and his role as a defender of justice in his region. His legacy, though more mythic than factual, continues to inspire admiration for the ideal samurai virtues of skill, honor, and dedication.
Hanwei's Japanese kabuto (helmet) & menpo (face plate) are superbly constructed, beautifully detailed and great value. These four helmets in our selection replicate the helmets, masks and ornaments of four legendary Japanese samurai Takeda Shingen, Oda Nobunaga, Daisho Kage and Date Masamune. These museum-quality reproductions of these archaeological treasures have been hand crafted by the metalsmiths of Hanwei with exacting attention to detail.
This samurai kabuto replica is based on a museum piece of unknown provenance. We don't know who used this helmet in feudal Japan, but Daisho Kake would have gladly used a quality helmet like this in his legendary battles. Made from 18 gauge steel (1,27 mm thick) it features traditional articulated armor plates tied with thick cotton cords. The helmet is fully wearable and includes a padded, lined interior for comfort.
A highlight of this piece is the removable Menpo face guard, complete with a genuine horse hair mustache. Horned Oni demon ornament is made of solid brass and has antiqued finish. This helmet has plume made of genuine pheasant feather. Both the plume and demon ornament can be removed if needed. The helmet comes with a custom wooden display stand for showcasing.
