Millions have grown up with J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings since the 1950’s. The classic epic is considered by many to be the greatest fantasy tale ever told. The story is one of the struggle between good and evil, but also of the role small ordinary folk can play in changing the world. The book trilogy was named the most popular book of the 20th Century, and Peter Jacksons feature film trilogy has won awards, as well as a legendary status of its own, since coming out in 2001-2003. The Hobbit is a prequel to the Lord of the Rings, the book having been published in 1937, and the movie trilogy having come out 2012-2014. The movies brought Middle-earth to life in stunning and faithful detail, giving that world an unimaginable authenticity, which is a major part of why the movies are still so beloved. We are thrilled to be able to bring you the swords and other weapons from these films. Gandalf the Grey, later known as Gandalf the White, is a wizard, a guardian sent to Middle-earth, who puts in motion the unexpected journeys of both Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, accompanying both on their respective quests. During the Third Age Gandalf’s feats include, but are not limited to: driving the Witch-king of Angmar out of Dol Guldur, impressing the Hobbits of the Shire with his fireworks, getting saved by eagles, and not letting a Balrog pass. It is in Moria, at the Bridge of Khazad-Dûm against the Balrog, where his old staff eventually breaks and he falls into the abyss.

Gandalf’s mission of defeating Sauron is still unfinished, and so he is sent back to Middle-earth as Gandalf the White. As well as white robes, he is given a new white staff. Gandalf, whether Grey or White, always has his walking stick with him, and a staff in the hands of a wizard may be more than a prop for age, as Hama finds out. Gandalf releases King Théoden from Saruman’s influence with the aid of this staff. Together with his sword Glamdring the Foe-hammer, a staff is Gandalf’s main weapon.
