One handed axes like this have been used to an awesome effect in many Kung Fu movies lately, so we had to bring you this one hand axe, albeit in trainer form. This trainer axe is of very common and universal axe style so it can be of course be used in theaters, movies, martial art training and as a prop regardless where and when your story is situated.

The fictional movie version of the Chinese axe gang, which has been seen in many Kung Fu-movies, uses axes as weapons, was based on a real one, which operated in Shanghai from the 1920´s to the 40´s. In practice the real Axe Gang was similar to other more famous criminal organizations, such as the Italian Mafia, the Chinese Triads and the Japanese Yakuza.

The Axe used by the Gang had a four inch cutting edge with sharp corners, which would easily have pierced the thickest skull, and the razor sharp edge would have sheared through flesh and bone like white bread. Plus due to its substantial weight and straight handle, the axe was easy to throw with great accuracy and with the most violent effect. In cases where everybody is Kung Fu fighting, it is a good idea that at least the less experienced members of the squad should be using something a bit less deadly. That way the fighting is a little less frightening, even if they are fast as lightning. The look and feel of this training hatchet still closely mirrors that of the deadlier original, and the handle still has the Kanji characters that mean "Axe Gang", without the risk to life and limb.

Marshal artists have known a simple truth for ages: that if your ultimate goal is to wield a razor sharp edge safely and effectively, you need to train with a blade that approximates the size, feel and heft of a live blade, yet minimizes the possibility of causing grievous, permanent, or life-threatening injury to yourself or your training partner. This concept was implemented by many cultures, including the ancient Romans, who used wooden swords to train their gladiators. The only problem was that wooden training tools can rot, crack, chip or splinter and could not be used in all weather conditions.
