Description of the Product
The Battlecry Arkansas Toothpick features a 1075 high carbon steel blade tempered to the low 50s RC. It has a battle-hardened finish with a darkened patina and a peened full tang for strength and durability. A matching scabbard and certificate of authenticity are included.
The Arkansas Toothpick emerged in the early 19th century in the American South and frontier regions, particularly in Arkansas and along the Mississippi Valley. Despite its name, it is not a small knife but a large dagger-style fighting knife with a long, narrow blade optimized for thrusting. The name “Toothpick” was partly tongue-in-cheek frontier humor—an ironic understatement for a formidable sidearm. These knives were commonly carried during the 1830s–1850s and became closely associated with riverboat gamblers, frontiersmen, and the rough-and-ready culture of the expanding American frontier.
This modern Battlecry interpretation stays true to that bold heritage. It is designed to be large, intimidating, and effective against threats in the American wilderness—whether four- or two-legged. The long, slender blade is built for speed and forged from 1075 high carbon steel, arriving sharp right out of the box.
The blade features a wide, continuous tang for added resilience, peened securely at the pommel. The handle is classically coffin-shaped and stained a deep black/brown tone. With its extra-wide tang, working temper in the low 50s RC, and darkened battle-hardened finish, this knife is built not only to look the part—but to perform.
About Battlecry-line
The Battlecry line of historical swords, daggers and axes has been designed in conjunction with John Clements, whose knowledge of historical fencing and Medieval and Renaissance fighting methods is unsurpassed. Hand forged by Windlass Steelcrafts, high carbon steel is tempered in computer controlled ovens to a hardness of low 50’s RC. This ensures strength, resiliency and edge retention. Swords have extra wide full tangs and all Battlecry weapons are sharpened.
Each model has been put through rigorous physical testing to exceed industry standards. These battle tested weapons have a stone washed, blackened finish. The dark patina protects the blade from rust spots and stains that occur so often from everyday practice and exposure to the elements. Each piece is individually inspected at every step of the manufacturing process, and only after passing inspection they receive the armorers stamp on the blade. A certificate signed by the smith who wrought your weapon is included.
