Description of the Product

This sword is based on an original, now in Wallace Collection, London, possibly used by one of England’s finest knights, Sir William Marshal (1147-1219) who this sword is named after. Sir William Marshal served the crown faithfully under five Kings: Henry II, Henry the Young King, Richard the Lionheart, John and Henry III. Archbishop of Canterbury described Sir William Marshal as the "best knight that ever lived". He became one of the most powerful men in whole Europe and by the time of his death in 1219 he was known throughout Europe as "The Marshal".

This version features forged high-carbon steel blade with excellent handling characteristics. Tempered to a tough HRC 54, the blade section features a central ridged fuller and full-length distal taper - a tough test to forge for the bladesmith, but resulting in a superb combination of speed and strength. The wooden grip is leather wrapped and laced and the steel guard and pommel are elegant in their functional simplicity. The wooden scabbard is leather-covered with steel mounts.
