Description of the Product

This is the Battlecry version of the military-issued kindjal (called “khanjali” in Georgian), a type that remained in service with the Russian armed forces until the mid-20th century. With a blade measuring the length of a short sword, it was ideally suited for close combat and easy to carry as a secondary weapon. The type originates from the Georgian region of the Caucasus, but it is especially well known as a weapon of the Cossacks. Kindjals were used both as primary weapons and sidearms among the peoples of the Caucasus from the 18th century onward, and were widely carried throughout the 19th century.

The blade is forged from 1065 high carbon steel with a darkened, battle-hardened finish, full tang, and tempered to a low 50's RC. The fine point endows it with superior piercing power. Multiple blood grooves and a central fuller give this short sword a light, lively feel.

This pre-sharpened weapon has gone through rigorous testing. The hands-on nature of the manufacturing by master smiths makes this line unique. Includes a matching scabbard with belt stop, and certificate of authenticity signed by each smith that touched your blade through every step of the forging process. The leather scabbard has steel throat and chape that are engraved with a traditional floral pattern.

About Battlecry-line

The Battlecry line of historical swords, daggers and axes has been designed in conjunction with John Clements, whose knowledge of historical fencing and Medieval and Renaissance fighting methods is unsurpassed. Hand forged by Windlass Steelcrafts, high carbon steel is tempered in computer controlled ovens to a hardness of low 50’s RC. This ensures strength, resiliency and edge retention. Swords have extra wide full tangs and all Battlecry weapons are sharpened.

Each model has been put through rigorous physical testing to exceed industry standards. These battle tested weapons have a stone washed, blackened finish. The dark patina protects the blade from rust spots and stains that occur so often from everyday practice and exposure to the elements. Each piece is individually inspected at every step of the manufacturing process, and only after passing inspection they receive the armorers stamp on the blade. A certificate signed by the smith who wrought your weapon is included.

Super impressed! I'll admit I'm no historian, but the cloak I purchased was both fashionable and practical! In my search for historical clothing that's more than just a cheap costume, I believe I've found my place :) Delivery for me was fast - only two working days to receive it! Though I am in Finland. Will definitely be buying from here again :)
