Description of the Product

This wakizashi is not only a functional weapon but also a stunning piece of art. Whether displayed in your home or used in practice, the Shinto Wakizashi embodies the spirit and tradition of the samurai. The dragon motif represents the samurai's connection to mythical creatures and their embodiment of strength and protection. Owning a Shinto Wakizashi is like holding a piece of history, a testament to the samurai's way of life and their unwavering code of bushido.

This Shinto Wakizashi has a hand-forged T10 high-carbon steel blade with Bo-Hi (fuller running the entire length of the sword). The blade on this wakizashi is differentially hardened using the traditional claying method. The blade's hamon (temper line) is distinct and visible, showcasing the skill of the swordsmith.

The handle has genuine white same (rayskin) and the handle wrapping (tsuka-ito) is made of premium black Japanese cotton. The tsuka is also decorated with menuki (ornaments) that enhance both its aesthetic appeal and functionality. The wooden saya is finished in a deep black lacquer with a black cotton sageo. A finely rendered dragon, detailed in gold, with true front-and-back detail, forms the black iron tsuba. The fittings are superbly antiqued adding to the aesthetics of the piece. This Shinto Wakizashi is supplied with a protective cloth bag and a traditional maintenance kit.

This wakizashi seamlessly blends traditional craftsmanship with the rich heritage of the samurai, making it a perfect addition to any collection.

Matching Shinto Katana also available to collect the set.

Super impressed! I'll admit I'm no historian, but the cloak I purchased was both fashionable and practical! In my search for historical clothing that's more than just a cheap costume, I believe I've found my place :) Delivery for me was fast - only two working days to receive it! Though I am in Finland. Will definitely be buying from here again :)
