Description of the Product

Live-action role-playing (LARPing) is a type of role-playing game in which participants immerse themselves in the story by dressing up as their chosen character. The two main requirements for LARP gear are realism and safety; for proper immersion weapons and other items have to be as authentic looking as possible, but many LARP-activities can be quite high energy, so the equipment also needs to be safe for all involved. As a result ever more realistic and safer LARP weapons have been developed as the hobby has grown in popularity.

The proliferation of plate armor across Medieval Europe was shadowed by the development of crushing weapons like the war hammer. Since swords were virtually useless against plate armor, mounted knights used short hammers, axes, and maces to defeat opponents' improved protection. While hammer-like weapons had been in use for centuries throughout the world, the medieval European war hammer was a very specific adaptation of the blunt, crushing war hammer design generally associated with the Norse deity Thor. The medieval war hammer was one of the few weapons with an edge that could both tear open armor plates as well as inflict devastating concussion blows. The war hammer usually had a beak-like blade opposite a faceted hammer, making it a combination of a mace and pick. The weight of the metal head concentrated on the sharp point of the beak after a full swing easily pierced both chain and plate mail.

Made from durable yet flexible polyurethane foam, this war hammer combines the sleek aesthetic of medieval weaponry with the safety of modern LARP weapons. This war hammer is completely safe whether itโ€™s being handled by a child, a dwarf, or an adult. You can confidently take the hammer along to markets, fairs, and other places where there are people around, whether itโ€™s for role-playing or a childrenโ€™s birthday party.ย

The war hammer measures around 71 cm in length, making it still being manageable for the little ones. Despite its sturdy appearance, it weighs only around 460 g. It is the ideal choice for LARP-combat, being light enough for quick movements. It blends seamlessly into a wide range of roles and costumes, making it an excellent prop for theatre, cosplay, or reenactment.

To ensure your hammer remains in top-notch condition, be sure to treat it with silicone spray, protect it from prolonged exposure to the sun, and remove dirt promptly with a damp cloth. This way, the protective coating stays intact.
