Millions have grown up with J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings since the 1950’s. The classic epic is considered by many to be the greatest fantasy tale ever told. The story is one of the struggle between good and evil, but also of the role small ordinary folk can play in changing the world. The book trilogy was named the most popular book of the 20th Century, and Peter Jacksons feature film trilogy has won awards, as well as a legendary status of its own, since coming out in 2001-2003. The Hobbit is a prequel to the Lord of the Rings, the book having been published in 1937, and the movie trilogy having come out 2012-2014. The movies brought Middle-earth to life in stunning and faithful detail, giving that world an unimaginable authenticity, which is a major part of why the movies are still so beloved. We are thrilled to be able to bring you the swords and other weapons from these films. They may not be forged by high elves in Gondolin, or Weta Workshop in New Zealand, but they are officially licensed and meticulously crafted by United Cutlery, so that you too can own a piece of the magic.

The Rohirrim were a people of horsemen, and their kingdom, Rohan, lay to the north of Gondor. Éomer was a Marshal of the Riddermark, and one of Rohan’s mightiest warriors, who slew any Orcs or Uruk-hai that dared trespass into Rohan. His father had been slain by orcs, and he and his sister Éowyn were adopted by their uncle, Théoden. At the Battle of Hornburg at Helm’s Deep Éomer fought alongside Théoden King against the forces of Saruman, and when they broke out of the keep his battlecry was “Gúthwinë for the Mark”. Later they fought against the forces of Sauron at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, and on Théodens death Éomer was hailed as the new King of the Mark. In the final stand against the dark lord Sauron, Éomer fought alongside Aragorn and the other captains of the West at the Black Gate of Mordor.

As his weapon Éomer wields a sword, Gúthwinë, meaning "battle-friend" or "comrade". This authentically detailed replica is a reproduction of the actual filming prop built by Weta Workshop which was used in The Lord of the Rings films. As the Rohirrim were horsemen, this is also reflected on their weaponry. Éomers single handed sword has a horse head pommel, and the guard features the head and tail of a horse. This sword was made using only the finest grade materials, and it has brass-finished cast metal hilt parts, a grip wrapped in genuine leather, and a stainless steel blade with engraved fuller grooves.

The stainless steel blade is easy to care for, and the sword is ideal as a decoration, as part of a costume, and as a collectible. The material is not suitable for fencing or cutting practice. This item includes a matching wooden display plaque with a Rohirrim motif, and a certificate of authenticity.
