Description of the Product
This is a classic accessory for carrying a sword or other weapon, although it looks great alone too! A favorite way to wear a sword since biblical times, the use of the baldric continued well into the 17th century. While much of the weight of the sword rested on the hip, the shoulder strap provided extra support from the opposite side of the body. This added balance and comfort. Assyrians, Romans and Vikings are all shown in contemporary art wearing baldrics. This European Baldric can be worn with any sword we sell and fits many periods. Made of oil tanned leather, this baldric is available in black with anickel silver buckle, or brown with brass buckle.
Available as a right handed baldric, where the sword hangs on the left hip, or as a left handed baldric where the sword hangs on the right.
This baldric is delivered with the frog open to suit any of your swords. You can stitch it closed to fit the sword of your choice. For this you must make holes in the leather and tie the frog shut with a string. The more holes you make the sturdier it will be. At its simplest two sets of holes will do like shown in the picture. Tighten with leather string or similar.

the baldric is made out of thick leather, which is so it can support a sword, but it also makes sowing very difficult.
if you are going to get this (or the right handed version), get a hammer and nail ready because you aren’t making it through the leather otherwise.
but when it’s done then it’s great, but since the sword is held at an angle so you can reach it and pull it out, it can be easy to hit stuff behind you with the scabbard.
(not a criticism for this, but worth mentioning.)
