Description of the Product
This type of knives are often called "trade knives" because knives like this were carried and sold by the French Colonial fur traders during the American Colonial period. Carrying, selling or bartering with knives or with just the bare knife blades was common practice and easier than carrying money. The value of paper notes or metal coins was debatable on the frontier where native Americans and frontiersmen and pioneers lived, but a good knife was useful and valuable to anyone. One of the largest companies bringing knives to these new colonies was Hudson’s Bay Company.
This is short, easy to use, all-purpose knife with a slightly curved blade that can be used as a skinner knife in hunting, camping and bushcrafting. Smallish handy knives like this can even also be used to carve various objects out of wood, including canoes and paddles, and to hollow out wooden bowls and ladles. This was one of the selling points of the originals.
This knife has full tang handle with polished wood scales on either side attached with brass rivets. Knife comes with a hand-crafted leather sheath. The knife slides firmly and snugly into the sheath that has wide belt loop stitched to the sheath. Nice everyday tool made to be used. This is a 100% handmade item and each item will have it's unique small differences from other pieces. The overall look, feel and size however is the same for each piece.

Kyseisen veitsen kuuluisi ilman muuta olla saapuessaan terävä koko matkaltaan, eli voit halutessasi laittaa tuon sinun kappaleesi tulemaan meille asiakaspalautuksena takaisin, niin vaihdetaan se kunnolliseen kappaleeseen. Mikäli haluat mieluummin itse teroittaa terän, niin näissä on noin 15 asteen teräkulma. Tuota kun teroittamaan lähtee, niin voi kyllä halutessaan ottaa 19 asteen teräkulmaan astikin. Toivottavasti tästä on apua 🙂

Terä ei kestä käyttöä. Ensimmäisellä käyttökerralla terään tuli lommoja ja lovia. Käytin linnun nylkemiseen eli ei edes kovaa käyttöä. Muutaman linnun jälkeen ei saanut edes nahkaan reikää. Koristeveitsi.

Meille tuli erä näitä veitsiä jotka olivat valmistajalla päässeet lämpeämään liikaa teroitusvaiheessa ja karkaisu oli mennyt pilalle osassa veitsiä. Vika koski vain pientä osaa erän veitsistä kun testasimme erän kaikki veitset ja poimimme huonot pois, mutta ilmeisesti huono veitsi on päässyt läpi sinulle. Lähetämme sinulle uuden veitsen, jossa karkaisu on kohdillaan. Käyttöveitseksi tämä on tarkoitettu ja terän tulee pysyä kunnossa työn touhussa.
