Description of the Product
Brass decorated and enforced sheath was a way to show of your wealth during Scandinavian Iron Age. A good sturdy knife was something everybody carried with them everyday, whether working at home farm, in the woods, on a journey or feasting. A good knife was part of the everyday dress for men and women alike. Flashy brass or bronze decoration on you knife sheath was something that made it more durable but also showed to everyone around you that you have the means to get something extra besides just the basics for yourself. Brass decoration on your knife wasn't just reserved for the wealthiest, it wasn't luxury as we might think of it nowadays, but still something the poorest of the society wouldn't spend their money on.
This is a good utility knife for all Vikings and other Iron Age Northern European people. Good size for chores, crafting and also self defense when needed. Several knives in this style have been found for example in heart of the Viking world Birka and Gotland. The durable and sturdy blade is hand forged out of 1095 Carbon Steel and the dark brown leather sheath has a belt loop for easy carrying.
