Description of the Product
Millions have grown up with J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings since the 1950โs. The classic epic is considered by many to be the greatest fantasy tale ever told. The story is one of the struggle between good and evil, but also of the role small ordinary folk can play in changing the world. The book trilogy was named the most popular book of the 20th Century, and Peter Jacksons feature film trilogy has won awards, as well as a legendary status of its own, since coming out in 2001-2003. The Hobbit is a prequel to the Lord of the Rings, the book having been published in 1937, and the movie trilogy having come out 2012-2014. The movies brought Middle-earth to life in stunning and faithful detail, giving that world an unimaginable authenticity, which is a major part of why the movies are still so beloved. We are thrilled to be able to bring you the swords and other weapons from these films. They may not be forged by high elves in Gondolin, or Weta Workshop in New Zealand, but they are officially licensed and meticulously crafted by United Cutlery, so that you too can own a piece of the magic.
He had many names; the Witch-king of Angmar, Lord of the Nazgรปl, Sorcerer, Ringwraith, a spear of terror in the hands of Sauron. During the Second Age Sauron had deceived the Elves, and as they forged the Rings of Power, in secret he created the One Ring to rule them all, becoming the Lord of the Rings. Of those Rings of Power, nine Sauron gave to mortal men doomed to die. Those nine great kings eventually became the Nazgรปl, Ringwraiths, shadows of despair and his most terrible servants.
At the end of the Second Age when the Last Alliance defeated Sauron and his forces, the Nazgรปl vanished together with Sauron for a thousand years. But then eventually a Shadow returned and the Necromancer built Dol Guldur in Greenwood the Great. Another evil realm was also founded, by the Lord of the Nazgul in Angmar, to oppose the Dรบnedain in the northern kingdom of Arnor. The Witch-king defeated the king at Amon Sรปl (Weathertop), and destroyed the watchtower there. The last prince of one of the northern kingdoms was also killed in that battle and was buried at the Barrowdowns, together with weapons forged by the men of Nรบmenor for fighting against Angmar and its Witch-king. Those blades would be found almost 2000 years later in the tomb of the barrow-wight by the Hobbits and Tom Bombadil.
The power of Angmar continued to grow, and finally the last kingdom of the Dรบnedain in the north was wiped out. Gondor and the Elves came to the aid of those few remaining, and although it was too late for the kingdom of Arnor, the Witch-king was defeated.ย He was not killed, as Glorfindel prophesied that โFar off yet is his doom, and not by the hand of man will he fall.โ The remaining Dunedain in the north were reduced to wandering Rangers, and the Witch-king fled to Mordor, awaiting the return of the Necromancer, Sauron. In Mordor, the Nazgรปl turned Minas Ithil to Minas Morgul, and ended the line of kings in Gondor. Eventually during the War of the Ring at the end of the Third Age the Witch-king rode out of Minas Morgul and led the forces of Mordor in the Battle of Pelennor Fields. And true to prophecy, the Lord of the Nazgul fell by the hands of Eowyn, (no man), and Pippin, a hobbit luckily wielding a blade that had been forged for just that purpose.
The Witch-king had been a great king of men, and even as a wraith his crown could be seen when he removed his hood. The chief power of all the Nazgศl was the fear they struck in living things, weakening hearts with terror, and spreading the Shadow of Mordor, causing despair and sickness. But the Nazgรปl did also have physical weapons, as Frodo and the company found out on Weathertop. This evil and ancient sword of the Witch-king was built by armorers of the dark land of Mordor. The crown topped pommel of this two handed sword is evocative of the crown of its wielder.
The sword is about 132 cm in length, and the blade is made of 420 stainless steel. The hilt parts are solid metal, and the grip is wrapped in leather. The blade has a distressed acid-etched finish, duplicating the original movie prop as closely as possible. This sword is a replica of the actual filming prop used in theย The Lord of the Rings- trilogy, which United Cutlery has meticulously reproduced using the finest grade materials and craftsmanship of the highest quality. The stainless steel blade is easy to care for, andย is ideal as a decoration, as part of a costume, and as a collectible. The material is not suitable for fencing or cutting practice. This item includes a matching wooden display plaque and a certificate of authenticity.
