Description of the Product
The MP41, or Machinenpistole model year 1941, was a submachine gun which fired 9mm bullets, developed and used by Germany during World War II. The MP41 was in use until the end of World War II on both the Eastern and Western fronts and was used mainly by the German SS and police.
MP41 was developed from the MP40. The biggest practical difference is the wooden stock and the trigger structure. The MP40 had been the successor to the MP38, the first submachine gun used by the German military in World War II. MP38 was designed and manufactured between 1938 and 1940. The MP40 and MP41 were better for serial production than the MP38 and were manufactured by many arms factories between 1940 and 1944.
Hugo Schmeisser, Haeln's factory manager, was given the credit for developing and manufacturing the MP40 and MP41, which is why several weapons that externally resemble these submachine guns were called “Schmeissers” during World War II, and still are.
Just like the previous MP40 submachine gun, the MP41's magazine could hold 32 9mm bullets and it had a range of 100-150 meters. It was a reliable weapon and relatively cheap to manufacture. When firing repeat fire, the weapon was easy to control, due to its low rate of fire, i.e. the weapon was accurate compared to its contemporaries over short distances (in urban environments, forests, etc.). Its disadvantages were its low power in open spaces and its limited range, which is why the successor to the MP40, the Stg44, the modern assault rifle, was designed.
The gun comes with a leather shoulder strap pictured.
- This gun is an exact replica of the original. The replica matches the original in size and weight. The mechanisms of the weapon are working. The weapon can be cocked and dry fired like a real one. The magazine is detachable. Due to the materials used, the mechanisms cannot withstand continuous cocking and firing for long periods.
- Genuine wood and cast metal has been used to make this replica weapon. Zamac differs from steel in many respects, so the structure of the gun does not withstand pressure, it cannot be used to fire bullets, nor can it be converted to a functional weapon by any means.
- Replica guns such as this do not require permits in Finland, nor in many other countries. However, since the gun looks real, it should not be carried in public.
- A replica gun is perfect for historical re-enactment, on a theater stage, in film productions, for collectors of historical memorabilia, and as decoration.
