Description of the Product

Muffin caps or mob caps were circular caps worn by women from the sixteenth century onward. Originally they were of a very informal style, but eventually they evolved into a high-fashion item as part of the adoption of simple "country" clothing during the 18th century. During the French Revolution, the name "Mob Cap" caught on because the poorer women who were involved in the riots wore them. These types of head dresses remained in use as the head covering of servants and nurses as part of their uniforms well into the 20th century.

You can easily adjust the look of the cap to your dress using a ribbon, bow or other decorations. Simple unadorned cap is good for servants and to the countryside while high class women often decorated their mobcaps with ribbons and bows.
