Description of the Product

This detailed replica of a Roman serpent ring has been made after original ring from approx. the 1st to 3rd century. Before the popularity of Christianity and their view of snakes as the vessels of devil and demons, serpents and snakes were actually known to represent fertility or a creative life force. As snakes shed their skin through sloughing, they were symbols of rebirth, transformation, immortality, and healing.

Similar rings with the representation of serpents or dragons were very popular from the beginning of the Iron Age all the way to the end of the Early Middle Ages and the Viking Age. They have been found in Rome as well as for example in the Nordic countries.

This serpent finger ring is not closed on the underside to form a solid ring. The spiral shaped open style allows the serpent ring size to be adjusted slightly. Size can be adapted to a ring diameter of 17 to 21 mm. The roman ring is made of quality bronze, and it can be worn as a perfect accessory for historical reenactment, LARP costumes or as everyday jewelry.
