Description of the Product

These swords are designed to be the ultimate training tool. Developed by HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) practitioners for HEMA practitioners and giving the community the product they wanted. These swords behave like original steel swords but offer far greater safety than steel weapons. This increased safety, coupled with realism makes these affordable and durable synthetic swords the best training tool out there.

Cutlass is short, broad and typically slightly curved sword commonly used on ships from the 15th all the way to the 19th Century. Although used on land as well, the cutlass was perfect for naval combat in tight quarters. The basket itself provided excellent hand protection and could deliver a hard blow in the crowded melee that ensued on board.

The blades are stiff enough for fast swordplay but are constructed to flex in the last 1/3 towards the tip. This gives us a blade that can be used for thrusting (protection should ALWAYS be worn) without being whippy. The blade/tang joint (traditionally a weak point) is reinforced by a steel rod running along the full length of the handle. This also removes any flex in the handle traditionally associated with plastic training swords. Blade is manufactured from special Proline Xtreme blend of high-impact polymer.

The swords weigh about 2/3 of the weight of a real sword. This is designed to lower the impact of hits when sparring. This means that you need to protect yourself much lighter compared to the heavy protection needed when training with steel swords.

The basket guard is constructed from reinforced high impact plastic. The pommel is also constructed from high impact plastic. A brass nut is moulded into the pommel to provide a tight and durable metal on metal joint to the tang.

The swords can be taken apart easily by unscrewing the pommel. This can be done in a few seconds without using any tools. This not only makes transporting them easy – it also allows you to easily customise your sword with our range of interchangeable parts.

Metallic grey comes with brown handle and the black blade comes with black handle. Colour of the handle can be changed by writing into the comment-field of your order.
