Description of the Product
The famous World War II general George S. Patton designed this cavalry saber when he was still a Lieutenant, back in 1913. Although it is commonly known as “the Patton Sword”, the official name of this sword was the M1913 Cavalry Saber. It was the last sword that was issued to, and used by, the US Cavalry. This saber was designed to be a cut-and-thrust weapon, although there is a heavy emphasis on thrusting in its design. Patton himself considered the thrust to be a superior mode of attack in mounted melee combat. This sword has a steel guard and a hard plastic handle, and a wood scabbard with steel mounts.
