Valkyries are mythical figures in Norse mythology, originating from the ancient stories and legends of the Germanic and Scandinavian people. The primary role of Valkyries was to select brave warriors from the battlefield who had died in combat and bring them equally divided to Fólkvangr and Valhalla, Freya’s and Odin's majestic halls.

Valkyries were often depicted as beautiful and fierce female warriors, skilled in both battle and magic. They were armed with weapons and rode flying horses or flew by themselves.

Throughout Norse mythology, Valkyries appear in various tales, serving as both messengers of Odin and as fierce warriors. They embody the dual aspects of life and death, celebrating the fallen heroes while also fighting and observing the battles that shape the fate of both gods and mortals. The concept of Valkyries has continued to capture the imaginations of artists and creators, and it has been a popular subject in literature, art and popular culture.

This pendant is made after a Valkyrie amulet found from a Viking Age grave in Tuna in Uppland, Sweden. The figurine represents a woman, and she has been interpreted as a Valkyrie. She is wearing a shawl or cape, and her hair is tied to a knot or haircloth.
