Description of the Product
The first double-barreled shotguns were presented at the London World Fair in 1851, and with minor modifications to the cartridge, these modern shotguns, even by current standards, came on the market as early as the next decade. Here is a replica of an American double-barreled shotgun from 1868, perfect for both Wild West skirmishes and a 21st century hunting club. Such a double-barreled shotgun with a break-open action is still the most common type of shotgun.
The shotgun has been and continues to be a common hunting weapon for small game and birds. Because the shotgun shoots small shots in a cluster instead of a single bullet, the small shots slow down quickly in the air and the effective range of the weapon is no more than twenty meters. Due to their short range, shotguns have not really ever been used as weapons of war.
This shotgun is named after Wyatt Earp, the famous hero of the Wild West. Wyatt Earp gained his reputation as an uncompromising, incorruptible, and fearless law enforcement officer in the border town of Tombstone, Arizona, near the Mexican border. Wyatt Earp was involved in a rare real-life battle, like a scripted Western film in which a group of law enforcement officers encountered, with blazing guns, a band of robbers who terrorized the city. Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday, Virgil Earp, and Morgan Earp encountered the band of robbers in 1881 in the Battle of O.K. Corrall. After just 30 seconds of bullet rain, Wyatt Earp was the only scratch-free participant, with several outlaws losing their lives. Unfortunately, this most famous battle in the Wild West did not settle the score between law enforcement and the cowboy gang for good, and Wyatt Earp lost one of his brothers in the months that followed, with the other was seriously wounded after the revenge spiral began. Wyatt Earp himself ended up on the wanted list after taking the law into his own hands after the loss of his brother, embarking on a vengeance spree with a sheriff star on his chest and shooting the cowboys he suspected of murdering his brother. Despite several battles, Wyatt Earp was never even injured, which raised his reputation even before films, books, etc. were made on the subject.
The first postal services transported people as well as valuables and mail in their wagons across the Wild West from distant cities and wilderness stops and back again. Stagecoach guards typically used such a shotgun to protect the coach from attacks by both Indians and highway robbers. The use of a shotgun by a security guard sitting next to the driver was so common that in English, sitting in a car next to the driver is still referred to as “riding shotgun”.
This shotgun has two drilled barrels and its own trigger for both hammers. The hammers can be triggered as in the originals. The barrel folds open and locks closed. The stock is rosewood.
- This gun is an exact replica of the original. The replica matches the original in size and weight. The mechanisms of the weapon are working. The weapon can be cocked and dry fired like a real one. Due to the materials used, the mechanisms cannot withstand continuous cocking and firing for long periods.
- Genuine wood and cast metal has been used to make this replica weapon. Zamac differs from steel in many respects, so the structure of the gun does not withstand pressure, it cannot be used to fire bullets, nor can it be converted to a functional weapon by any means.
- Replica guns such as this do not require permits in Finland, nor in many other countries. However, since the gun looks real, it should not be carried in public.
- A replica gun is perfect for historical re-enactment, on a theater stage, in film productions, for collectors of historical memorabilia, and as decoration.
