About Archery
Hundreds of thousands of soldiers have used crossbows in medieval warfare, for centuries archery was one of the most popular sports in Europe, and as a hunting weapon the bow is still in use today. Riding archers from the Eurasian Steppe conquered the largest empire known to man using bows. Most cultures from the dawn of humanity have respected and honored the bow. Small hunter gatherer tribes used the bow as a tool to provide food and to protect themselves and large empires used the bow as a effective and powerful tool in war. These weapons have been in use for thousands of years and several different structural solutions have emerged for different purposes, from the unadorned infantryman’s weapon to the lavishly decorated competition bows of the nobility.
