Description of the Product

This authentic kukri is made by the official government contractor, Windlass Steelcrafts (since 1943), for issue to the Gurkha's Assam Rifles Regiment. Made to current military specifications, it is hand forged from high carbon steel and comes with a regulation sheath. This kukri has a 34 cm (13 1/2") long blade which is double fullered. It also features the traditional religious notch, which is said to be symbolic of the trident of Shiva. At a little over 6 mm (1/4") thick, this is a very powerful chopping blade. The polished, native hardwood handle is reinforced by a brass bolster and a brass pommel with a raised lion's head decoration. The handle of Assam Rifles Kukri is slightly slimmer than the handle of Gurkha Kukri making it fit better for user with small hands. There might be slight variation in the size and blade shape of the small accessory knives which are included. The other accessory knife has traditionally been left blunt, to be used for example as a fire steel, and the other one is sharper, to be used for example in skinning, eating or other small tasks.

Veitsi on laadultaan perus hyvä. Jämäkän oloinen ja viimeistelyltään siistillä työkalu tasolla. Terä ei ole suoraan paketista veitsi terävä vaan lähempänä kirveen tai jonkin muun kovempaan käyttöön tehdyn halkaisu työkalun terää.

Siinä missä veitsi on itsessään hyvä, niin veitsen tuppi on suorastaan surkea. Nahkatyön viimeistely on heikolla tasolla. Lisäksi tupen messinki helan kärki on jopa vaarallisen terävä. Se on jopa terävämpi kuin itse veitsen kärki. Tämä on kuitenkin helppo korjata viilaamalla helan kärjestä vähän pois. Nämä ongelmat ovat kuitenkin pieniä verrattuna tupen suurimpaan ongelmaan. Suurin ongelma tupessa on se että veitsen sovitus tuppeen on erittäin väljä terän paksuuden suhteen, mistä johtuen veitsi tahtoo tulla ulos tupesta itsestään. Veitsen painosta johtuen tämä ulos liukuminen tapahtuu huomattavalla vauhdilla. Tämä on oikeasti vaarallinen vika tuotteen käyttöä ajatellen.

Itse veitsi on viiden tähden arvoinen, mutta tupelle ei voi antaa kuin yhden korkeintaan.

ps. Pikku veitset ovat täysiä turhakkeita ja huonosti valmistettuja.

  suuret pahoittelut että sinulle osunut kappale on ollut noin löysä. Mitenkään supertiukkoja nuo kukrien tupet eivät yleisesti ottaen ole olleet, mutta missään nimessä kukrin ei kuulu tuolla tavalla suoraan huljahtaa ulos vauhdilla. Laita ihmeessä tuo kappale meille tulemaan asiakaspalautuksena, niin vaihdetaan se paremmin istuvaan yksilöön.

Beautiful sword and scabbard in perfect condition. Well greased and packaged and I received it very quickly. The price is also really good, one of the best in Europe for sure!
