Description of the Product
Among the Celts, different types of arm bands, bracelets and bangles in various shapes and sizes, were very common. Together with the famous Celtic torques they were an important status symbol, showing the rank and status of the wearer.
This piece of Celtic jewelry combines the two essential symbols of Celtic culture, openwork knots and a triskele. Celtic knotwork art traces back to 6th-century manuscripts, and it is known to signify eternity with its intertwining loops.
A small Triskele is set into the centre of the bracelet. A Triskele is an ornament consisting of three interlaced symbols, based on the division of a circle into three parts. Triskeles have been found in objects dating as early as the Neolithic period (around 6,000-3,500 BC), but it is particularly strongly associated with Celtic art of the La Tène culture during the Iron Age. During the Middle Ages, the symbol was used e.g. in Gothic architecture.
Because Triskele combines three separate elements into one, it has always symbolized the cohesion and connectivity of three things, e.g., earth-water-air, life-death-rebirth, past-present-future, creation-protection/upkeep-destruction etc.
The slender bracelet is made of bronze, and is 1.5 cm wide. The material is pliable, which makes it easy to adjust the bracelet for the individual wrist circumference. It is suitable for wrists 16-19 cm in circumference.
