Windlass proudly brings to you a collection of multi-purpose knives which feature hand-forged, X46Cr13 high grade stainless steel blades that have been fully tempered in state-of-the-art computer controlled ovens. It means they are super tough and weather resistant and perfect for the great outdoors. Hardened to a Rockwell harness of HRC 48-52, they will flex and come back for more!
Even though some of the knives in the Cobra Steel range have historically made a name for themselves as weapons of war, they are versatile implements that can be used for gutting game, filleting fish, starting a fire, and many other activities. They are quintessential survival tools for the great outdoors, combining style and durability.
The blades are based on designs of historical models. The full tangs are encased in hard weather resistant rubber scales, which provide a strong grip for any condition, even with gloves, while providing shock absorption. All come battle ready sharp from the factory and include a riveted leather sheath.
The Celt-Iberians of Roman times were justly famed for their weapons, such as the Falcata; one of the most devastating swords ever made! The inward curving blade delivered a tremendous blow and could split both shield and helmet. The true origin of these short swords is unknown. Considered to be of Greek, or possibly Etruscan origin, the sword spread into southern Russia, but it was most popular in the Iberian Peninsula, where it was wielded to great effect against the Roman armies. The falcata wielding Celt-Iberian light infantry were so skilled and formidable, that they were often counted as heavy infantry. Hannibal used these elite warriors in the second Punic wars to reinforce his cartaginian army. In many ways the falcata resembles the kukri, and has among the best chopping designs of all knives in history. Our Cobra Steel Falcata is no different.
