Description of the Product
This style of dirk is a direct descendant of the medieval ballock dagger. The form of the ballock dagger started to change sometime in the late 16th century, and, in Scotland, soon developed into a form that was purely Scottish. The blade was long and single-edged.
This weapon was typically used either alone, with a shield and a sword, or just with a basket-hilt claymore. This replica is made from an early version of the dirk. The hardwood handle is carved with a chevron-like pattern appropriate for the time period. Includes leather covered wooden scabbard. Circa 1550
