Description of the Product
HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) and WMA (Western Martial Arts) are abbreviations for practicing and training in the old fighting styles and methods of our ancestors. For this practice a set of tools are needed and here you see a training version of the classic medieval arming sword. Armed with this and a buckler you can be training in no time.
For safer thrusts this sword has a rolled tip. The weight/punch of the thrust is now spread evenly to a greater surface area and no penetration of safety equipment can happen keeping the swordsmen and -women safe. The thrust is the most dangerous part of HEMA-practice so little safety features like this are welcomed add-ons.
This arming sword has the most popular classic shape with a straight cross-guard and a disc pommel. First appearing around 1025, it was still in style during the 16th century, and can thus be called the archetypal medieval sword. Due to its popularity, these swords can be found in many museums around Europe.
Built to withstand combat use by martial artists, reenactors and stage performers. Forged of 51CrV4 carbon steel, and tempered to around HRC 50-52. The edges and points are thick and rounded for better nick resistance and safety. This sword is crafted using same methods as original historical pieces with riveted pommel and the stout beech wood grip is covered with leather.
When training with weapons made of steel it's important to use proper protections and maintain the condition of all items. Exercise proper safety precautions and control at all times to avoid injuries.
