Description of the Product

The name "Lobster Tail" refers to the distinctive shape of the glove, which resembled the segmented tail of a lobster. The gauntlet consists of articulated plates that seamlessly cover the fingers, knuckles, and back of the hand. Cuff extends over the wrist and flares out in hourglass-shape allowing good mobility to the wrist.

Lobster Tail Gauntlets provided excellent protection while allowing flexibility and dexterity for wielding weapons and handling other tasks. The individual moveable plates slide past other effortlessly allowing for a good grip on weapons.

Lobster Tail Gauntlets were used all over Europe during the 14th and 15th centuries, during the Late Middle Ages. They were worn by knights, men-at-arms, and other armored warriors of the period. Gloves in this style were most commonly used by the mercenaries and foot soldiers of the 15th Century till the beginning of 16th Century. Gauntlets in this style were typically used by infantry who wanted to protect hands while using pikes, halberds and other staff weapons.
