Description of the Product
This very feminine, off-the-shoulder blouse is made of cotton fabric and loosely tailored. Elastic gathers at the cuffs and at the round, ruffled neckline ensure a good fit, and small slits on the side seams enhance comfort. Off-the-shoulder blouses like this are often also called Carmen blouses or blouses with Carmen neckline. The elastic gathers at the cuffs makes it easy to wear the sleeves down or lift the sleeves up to elbows.
Historically, blouses should be assigned to the Renaissance rather than the Middle Ages. However, when combined with a skirt and a bodice or a corset belt, they make for a beautiful medieval look. They can also be paired nicely with a sleeveless or short-sleeved dress.
Off-the-shoulder style trended and became very popular during the Regency (1795-1837) and Victorian Era (1837-1901). Shirts and blouses with Carmen necklines were the height of fashion in the early to mid-nineteenth century.
This versatile blouse can also be worn with a dirndl, the traditional dress of the Alps, Austria and Bavaria, which has become famous from the Octoberfests around the world. The blouse can of course also be worn in everyday life with a pair of jeans.
