Description of the Product

The original of this dueling pistol is found in Brescia, Italy, from 1825, when men defended their glory with pistols. In addition to functionality, appearance was important. This replica weapon has detailed carvings that adorn the hardwood stock.

The purpose of the surprisingly common contemporary duels was not necessarily to kill the adversary, although, of course, there was the occasional death. The most important part of the duel was to prove courage and manliness. If a man, despite fear, honored his word and participated in a duel, everyone knew that he was a person to be trusted and who would act honorably. The duel often ended without a bullet hitting either participant, but both had faced death, and thus their honor had been saved.

The pistol uses a percussion cap lock, which is a more advanced version of the older flintlock system.

If you want to stage an even more realistic duel, you can use a normal plastic detonator cap familiar from detonator guns in place of the detonator cap. When the trigger is pulled, the striker strikes the cap and you get a small bang and a puff of smoke.
