Millions have grown up with J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings since the 1950’s. The classic epic is considered by many to be the greatest fantasy tale ever told. The story is one of the struggle between good and evil, but also of the role small ordinary folk can play in changing the world. The book trilogy was named the most popular book of the 20th Century, and Peter Jacksons feature film trilogy has won awards, as well as a legendary status of its own, since coming out in 2001-2003. The Hobbit is a prequel to the Lord of the Rings, the book having been published in 1937, and the movie trilogy having come out 2012-2014. The movies brought Middle-earth to life in stunning and faithful detail, giving that world an unimaginable authenticity, which is a major part of why the movies are still so beloved. We are thrilled to be able to bring you the swords and other weapons from these films. They may not be forged by high elves in Gondolin, or Weta Workshop in New Zealand, but they are officially licensed and meticulously crafted by United Cutlery, so that you too can own a piece of the magic.

Gandalf the Grey is a wizard, a guardian sent to Middle-earth, who puts in motion the unexpected journeys of both Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, and accompanying both on their respective quests. During the Third Age Gandalf’s feats include, but are not limited to: driving the Witch-king of Angmar out of Dol Guldur, impressing the Hobbits of the Shire with his fireworks, getting saved by eagles, and not letting a Balrog pass. Gandalf always has his walking stick with him, and as Háma finds out in Edoras, a staff in the hands of a wizard may be more than a prop for age. He uses his staff to illuminate the way throughout the stories, from blinding and blasting foes, to casting light on grave dangers, and risking a little light for the Fellowship as he guides them through the mines of Moria. It is in Moria, at the Bridge of Khazad-Dûm against the Balrog, where his staff eventually breaks and he falls into the abyss.

This staff is an officially licensed movie replica that has an illuminated crown that glows just like seen in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. The translucent lattice within the crown holds a high intensity white LED (100 lumens) with a 50 000 hour lifespan. The light is activated by a hidden button on the side of the staff, and it runs on two replaceable AA batteries housed at the bottom of the shaft, with a battery lifetime of c. 20 hours. So if you are planning to use the staff to guide your Fellowship through the mines of Moria, make sure to stock up on batteries.

This replica is crafted using the molds of the actual film prop. It is cast in hard polyresin and is hand-painted. The staff comes with a wall display plaque featuring Gandalf's "G" rune, and includes a certificate of authenticity.
