Description of the Product
Bushidō , or "Way of the Warrior", defines the code of conduct an honorable Samurai must follow and this Hanwei Bushido Katana is designed to perpetuate this tradition.
Bushidō is a code followed by samurai in ancient Japan. It's like a set of rules that guided their behavior and beliefs. It emphasizes concepts like honor, loyalty, courage, and self-discipline. Samurai were expected to be skilled warriors, but also to live with integrity and to serve their masters and society with loyalty and respect. Bushidō encouraged them to be humble, to show mercy, and to live with a strong sense of duty. It's about more than just fighting; it's about living a life of honor and moral strength.
The blade of the Bushido Katana is hand-forged and folded from K120C powder steel, with a medium-length (chu) kissaki. The saya is deeply lacquered with inlaid brass cherry blossom (sakura) flowers.
High quality ray skin (same) is used on the tsuka. The tsuba is crafted in blackened and bronzed iron, with detailing in gold and silver. A fierce samurai battle scene with weapons draws is depicted on the tsuba and on the kashira. On the other side of tsuba there is depiction of the famous Fuji mountain.
The tsuka-ito and the sageo are woven from premium Japanese cotton. The fuchi and kashira are of blackened bronze with brass detailing, and the kojiri, koiguchi and kurikata are of polished buffalo horn. The habaki is a one-piece brass construction.
A Traditional Japanese Sword maintenance kit is included. The kit contains blade oil (traditional choji oil that is made of mineral and clove oil), rice papers, an oiling cloth, a powder ball for blade polishing, a brass awl and hammer that is used if one wishes to disassemble the sword and a Saya shimming veneer to retighten the scabbard to the blade if needed. The kit is contained in a fitted wooden box. Also included is a traditional cloth bag to keep your sword in pristine condition when in storage or while transporting.
Available as a matching Bushido set -Daisho
Matching Bushido Katana, Bushido Wakizashi and Bushido Tanto are available to complete your collection and to build your own daishō set. Daishō refers to a matched set of swords comprising a longer sword and a shorter sword.
Katana was the primary weapon of the samurai warrior class. Its long, curved blade made it ideal for cutting and slashing in battle. The katana symbolized the honor and skill of its wielder, serving not only as a tool for combat but also as a symbol of social status and personal honor.
Complementing the katana as secondary weapon wakizashi was shorter in length but no less important in the samurai's arsenal. It was used for close-quarters combat, as well as for ceremonial and everyday purposes. The pairing of these two in the daishō set symbolized the readiness of the samurai for any situation, whether on the battlefield or in civilian life.
The daishō was more than just a practical weapon; it was also a status symbol. In feudal Japan, only samurai were permitted to wear the daishō, and the quality of the swords often reflected the social standing of the warrior. Wealthy and powerful samurai would commission master swordsmiths to craft custom daishō sets, which were often adorned with intricate designs and made from the finest materials, just like this Bushido set.
