During the Age of Exploration, the use of full armor declined significantly as warfare tactics evolved and new weapons became more common. Full suits of armor became impractical for long sea voyages and exploring new lands.

However, armor did not completely disappear from use. Explorers and conquistadors utilized lighter armor components like breastplates, backplates, and metal helmets to protect vital areas. The armor of the Age of Exploration was designed to be lighter and focused on safeguarding against edged weapons and projectiles while providing more mobility compared to earlier, bulkier armor.
