About Viking Helmets & Shields
Contrary to popular belief, the so-called “Viking helmets” with horns are only a myth. Historically accurate Viking helmets were typically simple and practical; featuring a conical or rounded shape with a nose or eye guard for facial protection.
Shields were essential to Viking warriors, as they were used for defense as well as offense in Viking war tactics. Shields were crafted from wood and sometimes reinforced with metal rims and a central boss.
