Description of the Product

The longbow had its heyday in medieval times, from 1250-1450, but use of a bow and arrow dates back to pre-historic times. It was used in hunting, sports as well as in war. Longbows were used across northern and western Europe, but it was the English that made this bow famous in the Hundred Years’ War against the French. English longbowmen resolved the famous battles of Crecy, Poitiers and most famously the Battle of Agincourt.

These traditional style longbows are made of highest-quality rattan palm wood. Rattan is very flexible as well as robust material. Rattan was not available in medieval Europe but as a 100% wooden bow it can be used in historical reenactment also in addition to LARP and traditional archery. This bow has been stained dark brown to give it more authentic, generic and old look.

These bows are available in several draw weights to offer the right bow for every archer, from 15 lb all the way to 40 lb draw weights. Youth and beginner archers want to start with weaker bows and as the power of the archer and his/her skills increase the draw weight can also be increased.

This bow has small arrow shelf on the left hand side of the bow. However you can easily shoot from the top of your hand if you prefer to shoot your arrows from the right hand side of the bow. This bow like the original longbows can be used ambidextrously. The handle has been wrapped in suede leather for comfortable grip.

Well suited for medieval reenactment and Larp. The authentic look, ergonomic qualities and good value for the price make this longbow excellent choice for beginners and traditional archers. The shade of the suede gray leather grip may vary and also the color of the string may vary from the black/white shown in the pictures.
