Description of the Product
This sword has been made with the regulations and needs of HMB (Historical Medieval Battle), MCS (Medieval Combat Sport), Buhurt and other Battle of the Nations -type heavy full contact combat sports in mind. Made to withstand extremely hard use.
Big swords like this were very popular weapons all across Europe. One could just as easily see sword like this in use on the battlefields as hanging on the hip of a knight in civilian life as a symbol of his higher social status. Longswords were used in tournaments, war, duels and naturally also in swordschools. Big two-handed longswords like this were versatile weapons: the size gave stronger blows and reach advantage over one handed swords and against heavily armored opponents the sword could be used like a short spear for strong thrusts. Big longswords like this were used for a long time from around 1350 to 1550.
Built to withstand heavy use by martial artists, reenactors and stage performers. Forged of 51CrV4 carbon steel, and tempered to around HRC 50-52. The edges and points are thick and rounded for better nick resistance and safety. This sword is crafted using same methods as original historical pieces with riveted pommel and the stout beechwood grip is covered with leather. Made by Victor Berbekucz.
