Description of the Product
These double edged swords are most commonly referred to as Tsurugi, which literally translates to "blade/sword". The word in Japanese is most often/specifically used to refer to straight double edged swords, as well as other foreign swords of the same characteristics.
Tsurugi is one of the first swords that led the way for Japanese weaponry. Some of the tsurugis that have been discovered from Japanese grounds are dated all the way back to 700 BC. The earliest tsurugis were made of bronze, while the Kage No Senshi Tsurugi- series weapons are made after Sengoku and Edo period pieces. They are mostly of Chinese descent as straight bladed swords weren't so prominent in feudal Japan. Compared to the original tsurugi BattleBlades Inc. took some artistic liberties to create something never seen before while keeping the key components true to originals. For example the long Tsuka nowadays often seen in tantos and wakizashis is way too long and has zero connection historically. BattleBlades designers wanted to give these weapons a short, very much hour glass shaped tsuka just like the daggers made in Japan actually had. This compact tsuka also benefits when the weapons is being used with correct techniques. Making a short and smaller tsuka made balancing the blade a challenge, so we decided to make the nagako (especially in the longer Wakizashi version) much wider and thicker than usually in order to get the weapons perfectly balanced.
The Kage No Senshi Tsurugi Tanto has iron tsuba. The nagasa's geometry is carefully designed in order to make hefty enough for heavy stabs and cutting, while also maintaining the blades exceptionally swift handling, as it is heavily tapered towards the tip. This tanto has a unique spear point shaped tip. The genuine notare style hamon gives the dagger a serene feel. This T10 steel double edged weapon is fully hand forged and polished. Dressed accordingly to Kage No Senshi Shinobi outfit with night blue rayskin and tsuka-ito wrapping. Protecting the blade is a deep black fully custom made saya with unique koiguchi shape for easier sheathing.
As always, this weapon is guaranteed BattleBlades quality and comes with an embroidered BattleBlades silk sword bag as well as a serial numbered certificate.
