Description of the Product

Millions have grown up with J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings since the 1950โ€™s. The classic epic is considered by many to be the greatest fantasy tale ever told. The story is one of the struggle between good and evil, but also of the role small ordinary folk can play in changing the world. The book trilogy was named the most popular book of the 20th Century, and Peter Jacksons feature film trilogy has won awards, as well as a legendary status of its own, since coming out in 2001-2003. The Hobbit is a prequel to the Lord of the Rings, the book having been published in 1937, and the movie trilogy having come out 2012-2014. The movies brought Middle-earth to life in stunning and faithful detail, giving that world an unimaginable authenticity, which is a major part of why the movies are still so beloved. We are thrilled to be able to bring you the swords and other weapons from these films. They may not be forged by high elves in Gondolin, or Weta Workshop in New Zealand, but they are officially licensed and meticulously crafted by United Cutlery, so that you too can own a piece of the magic.

Arwen Undรณmiel, Evenstar, was a half-elven who married Aragorn, a mortal, rejecting the immortality of Elves. In the movies Arwen's sword is calledย Hadhafang, throng-cleaver. The sword had previously been used by her father, Elrond, during the War of the Last Alliance of Elves and Men at the end of the Second Age. Elrond still uses Hadhafang during the Battle of the Five Armies in the Hobbit. Before Elrond, the sword had originally belonged to his grandmother, the Elven princess Idril, who also had wed a mortal man, and who was able to save some of her people after the Fall of Gondolin at the hands of Morgoth during the First Age. In The Lord of the Rings movies Elrondโ€™s daughter Arwen uses Hadhafang for example when she aids Frodo in his escape from the Ringwraiths across the Bruinen.

Inscribed on the blade are Tengwar runes in the Elven language of Sindarin:ย Aen estar Hadhafang i chathol hen, thand arod dan i thang an i arwen, which translates to:ย This blade is called Hadhafang, a noble defense against the enemy throng for a noble lady. The Sindarin word for a noble lady isย arwen, so even though it was made for her great-grandmother Idril, it is simultaneously dedicated to Arwen herself as well.

This authentically detailed collectible is an officially licensed reproduction of the sword wielded by Arwen inย The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. United Cutlery has meticulously recreated the actual prop sword, and close attention to detail was a top priority. This beautiful sword features a wooden handle adorned with elven vine designs and a solid metal pommel. The sharp-edged blade is crafted of tempered 420 stainless steel and is inscribed with runes. The stainless steel blade is easy to care for, and the sword is ideal as a decoration, as part of a costume, and as a collectible. The material is not suitable for fencing or cutting practice. This item includes a matching wooden table display stand with an Elven motif, and a certificate of authenticity.
