Description of the Product
Short-barreled shotgun with a rosewood stock. The shotgun has two drilled barrels and its own trigger for both hammers. The hammers can be triggered as in the originals. The barrels fold open and locks to a closed position. Brass colored gunmetal, aka red brass, was a common material in the American Wild West. The combination of gunmetal, rosewood and black barrels is both classy and authentic.
By cutting both the stock and the barrels, a large weapon can be made almost pistol-sized, making it easy to carry, hide, and use in cramped spaces (e.g., indoors or in dense woods). For ease of use, special forces and police still use sawed-off shotguns across the globe, although today, of course, they have newer versions of this 19th-century model.
The shotgun was a popular defense tool as early as the days of the Wild West, but the sawed-off shotgun in particular has been the choice of several bank robbers during both the Wild West as well as the 20th century. The sawed-off shotgun has been particularly popular in areas where small hand arms have not been available due to legislation, such as Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the truncated shotgun has found its way into the arsenal of Finnish bank robbers as well.
Sawed-off shotguns are banned in several countries after criminals have taken them up. In Italy, this type of double-barreled shotgun, where both hammers are manually cocked and each barrel has its own trigger, is called a "lupara" (wolf ammunition, ”for the wolf”). Although the weapon was standard equipment for organized crime in Italy, it was originally used by farmers and sheep farmers when evicting wolves, hence the name. La Cosa Nostra introduced the weapon in Italy and the Mafia in the USA, respectively. The Lupara even makes an appearance in The Godfather books and films.
Although such a weapon is called a sawed-off shotgun, it does not mean that all shotguns with short barrels and short stocks are cut from long shotguns by sawing. Several manufacturers have offered such short versions of their long models over the years.
- This gun is an exact replica of the original. The replica matches the original in size, but may be slightly lighter in weight. The mechanisms of the weapon are working. The weapon can be cocked and dry fired like a real one. Due to the materials used, the mechanisms cannot withstand continuous cocking and firing for long periods.
- Genuine wood and cast metal has been used to make this replica weapon. Zamac differs from steel in many respects, so the structure of the gun does not withstand pressure, it cannot be used to fire bullets, nor can it be converted to a functional weapon by any means.
- Replica guns such as this do not require permits in Finland, nor in many other countries. However, since the gun looks real, it should not be carried in public.
- A replica gun is perfect for historical re-enactment, on a theater stage, in film productions, for collectors of historical memorabilia, and as decoration.
