Description of the Product

The Shuriken of the Ninja included various projectiles such as darts and star-shaped discs (throwing stars), forming part of the art of shurikenjutsu, which was an important part of the Ninja’s effectiveness. Darts like this are called Bo-Shuriken.

Shuriken were primarily used by ninja (shinobi) in feudal Japan. These covert agents specialized in espionage, sabotage, guerrilla warfare, and assassinations, and shuriken were part of their versatile arsenal. The compact size and portability of shuriken made them ideal for stealthy tactics, allowing ninja to surprise or disable opponents from a distance.

Samurai also occasionally used shuriken. For samurai, shuriken served as supplementary weapons to distract, create openings in combat, or target vulnerable areas on an opponent's body. They could be thrown in various ways to stabilize flight and increase accuracy, and while not typically lethal, they were often used to injure or disorient an opponent, giving the ninja or samurai an advantage.

Shuriken were sometimes coated with poison to enhance their effectiveness, allowing even minor wounds to incapacitate or kill an opponent. This tactic highlighted the stealth and cunning of the ninja. Shuriken could also be embedded in the ground as traps, hidden in strategic locations, or used in hand-to-hand combat as makeshift daggers. This Shuriken set contains six darts in a forearm band made of cordura. The darts are plated black in the Ninja tradition.
