Description of the Product

Throughout history, almost up to the present day, glass and metals have been expensive to manufacture, and therefore they’ve only been used for rare luxury items. The materials for everyday items came from nature, and through the millennia simple wooden vessels were common with the regular folk, but different materials were naturally also used. This wooden tankard is made of mango wood. Inside the wooden tankard you have a stainless steel cup that keeps your drinks safe, secure and fresh. You can safely use it with any liquids, including alcohol.

Wooden vessels have often been adorned with intricate engravings and embellishments. Ours has been left relatively unadorned, and its simple form makes it historically accurate for centuries of re-enactment. This tankard has a barrel look, of staves bound by metal hoops. That type of barrel construction is thousands of years old, oldest known examples are from Egypt 2600 BCE.

This unique wooden tankard brings a glorious and authentic feel to various tables. It will look at home at a noble banquet feast of the south or in a stark northern guardhouse, around a campfire, retelling the conquests of the day, or in a tavern. When drinking from this fantastic tankard you no longer care who is king! The tankard will suit perfectly for example Larp and historical reenactment of ancient times, Viking Age and the Middle Ages, and it can of course be used as a modern item in everyday use.

Mango wood as a material:

Mango tree is more known for its fruit rather than for its wood. However, mango trees can be converted to lumber once their fruit-bearing lifespan has finished, which makes it a sustainable andΒ  eco-friendly material.

Care:

All-in-all mango requires very little maintenance. It is naturally resistant to moisture. As this tankard has a modern steel cup inside, there is very little maintenance required to keep your tankard fresh. After use the best way to wash your tankard is to hand wash with warm soapy water, rinse and dry. Do not wash in a dish-washer. Do not microwave.
