Description of the Product

Freya is a goddess in Scandinavian and Germanic mythology. She is the the goddess of love and lovers, who is associated with fertility, abundance and good harvests. She is also often associated with seiðr- magic, seeing and influencing the future. According to mythology, Freya is the daughter of Njörd, the sea god. Her twin brother is Freyr, the god of fertility .

As a goddess of death, Freya takes half of the fallen warriors to her home Fólkvangr (“field of the warriors”), the beautiful halls of Sessrúmnr ("seat-room"), when the other half goes to Valhalla to Odin.

Freya possesses a necklace called Brisingamen forged by dwarves, a chariot pulled by forest cats Bygul and Trjegul, as well as a feathered robe that allows one to glide through the air like a falcon.

This pendant is a replica of an amulet found in a Viking-era grave in Hagebyhöga, Aska, in Vadstena Sweden. The amulet's figure is wearing a cloak and a string of pearls around its neck. The original pendant dates to the 9th - 11th century CE and is in the collection of the State Historical Museum of Sweden.
