Millions have grown up with J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings since the 1950’s. The classic epic is considered by many to be the greatest fantasy tale ever told. The story is one of the struggle between good and evil, but also of the role small ordinary folk can play in changing the world. The book trilogy was named the most popular book of the 20th Century, and Peter Jacksons feature film trilogy has won awards, as well as a legendary status of its own, since coming out in 2001-2003. The Hobbit is a prequel to the Lord of the Rings, the book having been published in 1937, and the movie trilogy having come out 2012-2014. The movies brought Middle-earth to life in stunning and faithful detail, giving that world an unimaginable authenticity, which is a major part of why the movies are still so beloved. We are thrilled to be able to bring you the swords and other weapons from these films. They may not be forged by high elves in Gondolin, or Weta Workshop in New Zealand, but they are officially licensed and meticulously crafted by United Cutlery, so that you too can own a piece of the magic.

Strider, or Aragorn son of Arathorn, as he is known in some places, was the heir to the Kingdom of Gondor and Arnor. His ancestor, Isildur, had been the last High King, who had cut the Ring of Power from the hand of Sauron, but then had failed to destroy the ring once and for all. Being an heir of Isildur, Aragorn is a Dúnadan, a descendant of the Men of Númeror, of the West. The Dúnedain had fought against Sauron in the War of the Last Alliance, and little by little through wars and division their number in the North was reduced to wandering Rangers. Aragorn too was a Ranger, and in the Shire and in Bree, where his noble lineage was not known, he was called Strider. As the last heir of Isildur, Aragorn owned the heirlooms of his House, including the shards of the legendary sword that was broken, Narsil. For several decades Aragorn spent as a Ranger in the Wild and among many peoples of Middle-earth. But as a Ranger he was not armed with Narsil, as that sword would not be forged again until during the War of the Ring, when he accepted his fate as the true king. Strider’s Ranger-sword is much like Strider himself, unassuming but with hidden nobility and power. After all in the words of the poem about Aragorn: All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost;

This authentically detailed collectible is an officially licensed reproduction of the actual filming prop used in the The Lord of the Rings trilogy. United Cutlery has meticulously recreated the prop sword using the finest grade materials and craftsmanship. Close attention to detail was a top priority. The blade is crafted of 420 stainless steel. The handle of this hand-and-a-half Ranger sword has a genuine leather-wrapped grip. The cross guard and pommel are solid cast metal with an antique finish. The stainless steel blade is easy to care for, and the sword is ideal as a decoration, as part of a costume, and as a collectible. The material is not suitable for fencing or cutting practice. This item includes a matching wooden display plaque featuring the heraldic insignia of the Kingdom of Gondor, and a certificate of authenticity.
